Safety Concerns & Setbacks From Portsmouth High School Wind Turbine To Planning, Preservation and Management Plan for Butts Hill Fort, Portsmouth, RI

Tonight June 9, 2014 the Portsmouth Town Council will take up a restoration plan of Butts Hill Fort, Portsmouth, Rhode Island.

To: James A. Seveney (D), President, John F. Blaess (D), Vice-President, Michael A. Buddemeyer (D), David M. Gleason (I), Keith E. Hamilton (R), Molly Donohue Magee (D) ,Elizabeth A. Pedro (R)

The plans appear to be drawn from a 2009 RIMAP visual map on the first page.

On page 33 of 90 in the pdf reader it shows a general picture of the wind turbine area on page 23 of the actual document.

There are no designations in footages from the commercial megawatt high school wind turbine. It is understandable as the high school wind turbine was under construction in early 2009.

Last week the Portsmouth Town Council voted to go forward with repairs on the commercial megawatt wind turbine.

The reason for this correspondence is to make everyone aware of any safety issues and setbacks from the Butts Hill Fort and the commercial wind turbine. Safety is number one.

The Butts Hill Fort project will includes construction employees, vehicles, access road for earthwork. The plan may include walking trails and facilities to support the general public. The plans go on to describe educational and recreational areas that are under consideration or proposed for the Butts Hill restoration.

The Portsmouth Town Council at some point in time will have to determine a safe walking distance for the public and visitors to the Butts Hill restoration from the Portsmouth High School wind turbine and make all the adjustments.
